The American Board of Dermatology endorses the recent statements from the Federation of State Medical Boards, American Board of Medical Specialties, American Board of Emergency Medicine, American Board of Pathology, and the joint statement of the American Board of Family Medicine, American Board of Internal Medicine, and American Board of Pediatrics concerning the spread of vaccine misinformation by medical professionals.
We share their concerns about the significant threat to public health posed by misinformation and disinformation about COVID-19 vaccines and non-pharmaceutical interventions that mitigate the spread of COVID-19. We affirm the ethical and professional responsibility of all physicians to base their recommendations on the best available scientific evidence particularly during a public health emergency when millions of lives are at stake.
